Community Impact

Everything we do focuses on changing lives, families, and communities.

Foundations serves the community by healing mind and spirit through mental health counseling and foster care.

Mental Health Counseling

  • Our main clinic offers full range of mental health and addiction services.
  • We partner with social organizations in ten different locations to embed our therapists to serve children and adults with significant barriers to care, including those living in poverty, experiencing homelessness, the aging and people with disabilities. These satellite clinics offer an opportunity for us to train and supervise the next generation of licensed therapists and address the scarcity of licensed therapists in Wisconsin.
  • We also provide counseling at three public schools. We are the founder, and an active member, of Connections for Mental Wellness, a coalition of mental health care providers seeking to reduce the number of poor mental health days.

We provide approximately 15,000 mental health sessions every year, plus casual support, psycho-education, and over 500 hours of service on mental health tasks forces and committees. Over 60% of our clients are either uninsured or under-insured, and we keep our doors open to everyone in need of mental health counseling.

Foster Care

In foster care, we recruit, license, and train foster parents. We work with counties throughout Wisconsin to provide placement and case management for children in need of loving foster homes. We provide treatment-level foster care to support children have experienced trauma and have higher emotional and physical needs. Through our foster care offices in Green Bay, Greater Milwaukee area, the Fox Valley, Janesville, and Stevens Point, we serve hundreds of children and teens every year.

RAYS Youth Services

RAYS Youth Services is a voluntary, community-based program in Sheboygan and Manitowoc Counties open to all youth between school-age and 21 years of age. The program is designed to help prevent homelessness and decisions to become a runaway, while navigating youth through the process of transitioning to successful, healthy, and independent living via preventative outreach, education, and other critical resources. RAYS meets all youth where they are at within the community, using a trauma-informed perspective to build coping/social emotional skills, positive adult connections, and strong connections to their community. RAYS reaches over 3,000 youth every year and introduces them to a variety of skills to help build emotional regulation and teaches life skills to foster independence, all while helping youth navigate a wide selection of community resources in order to help them set and reach personal goals. RAYS achieves strong connections through intentional outreach: casual contacts, street outreach, collaborative community events, groups, basic needs provisions, and educational presentations, as well as more targeted intensive programming that includes one-on-one and family mediations. Ultimately, as a result of the program, youth within the community have increased opportunities to remain in a stable housing situation, build and maintain healthy relationships, and successfully transition into adulthood with a stable foundation of necessary independent living skills.
